How can I maintain and expand my memory system over time?
Short Answer
Keep your encoding stable, practice a little daily, and schedule refresh reviews. Expand by building a library of distinct palaces, retiring crowded ones, and tracking what each palace is for.
Why This Matters
Because systems drift without rehearsal, light maintenance prevents decoding failures and forgotten routes. A structured library reduces interference, which leads to scalability as you add more material and more palaces over time.
Where This Changes
If you’re learning knowledge you’ll use for years, pair mnemonics with a notes system so refresh doesn’t depend on memory alone. Over-engineering can backfire—keep the system simple enough to sustain.
