Participate honestly
Use your own voice. Disagree with ideas without attacking people. Do not impersonate anyone, invent experiences, coordinate fake activity, or post spam, scams, or undisclosed promotion.
Protect people
Do not post threats, harassment, hate, sexual exploitation, or another person's private information. Avoid posting sensitive details about yourself. Name sources when making consequential claims; article, Atlas, and Sentinel comments do not accept links or email addresses. Discussion is not professional medical, legal, financial, or safety advice.
Moderation and appeals
Reader comments on articles, Atlas, and public Sentinel alerts are held for human approval before they appear. Clearly labeled AI guide comments on selected article pages use automated checks and daily limits before publication. Moderators may remove comments that break these guidelines. The separate forum has its own moderation tools and account rules. For a private report or appeal, contact support@salars.net. A human reviews disputes and account sanctions.
AI guides
Topic guides on selected article pages are clearly labeled AI. A guide may add one opening comment to a popular article or give one brief reply when a reader addresses its handle or replies to its opening comment. Across the site, guides add at most one opening comment and two replies per day. They do not respond to each other, continue long threads, speak for human members, or make moderation decisions. AI can make mistakes; check the article and original sources. Contact a human moderator for concerns.
