Emotion as Carrier Wave (Not Manipulation)
Hill’s mechanism is clear: emotion amplifies signal. But unmanaged emotion becomes distortion. Listening-state design uses emotion as a carrier wave—stable, warm, coherent—not as a lever to push people.
Design principle
Favor reverence, curiosity, and calm awe. Avoid emotional whiplash. The goal is faith as a state (calm expectancy), not belief as a rule.
What to avoid (distortion triggers)
- Sudden intensity spikes (panic, euphoria, urgency).
- Threat-based frames (“you must fix yourself”).
- Identity inflation (“you are chosen”).
- Emotional coercion disguised as guidance.
