Texture Walk

Short Answer

Walk barefoot (safely) or touch different surfaces with your hands, focusing on texture, temperature, and micro-changes in sensation.

Safety First

Only use clean, safe surfaces. Avoid unknown outdoor terrain, broken glass risk, and anything sharp or biologically unsafe. If barefoot isn’t appropriate, do a “texture hand scan” instead.

How to Do It (3–8 minutes)

  1. Pick 3–5 surfaces (wood, tile, fabric, carpet, stone).
  2. Spend 30–60 seconds on each.
  3. Notice pressure points, temperature gradients, and friction.
  4. Describe sensation with precision (gritty, slick, springy).
  5. End by comparing: which surface felt most “alive” to you?
