How to Choose a Coin Class That Fits You
You have seen the options: Sleep-Well, Emergency, Legacy, Dealer-Friendly. Now, how do you mix them?
We have covered 9 different ways to look at coins. Now, you need to build Your Portfolio.
There is no "perfect portfolio," but there are "perfectly balanced" portfolios.
3 Common Archetypes
1. The Survivalist (Grid Down Focus)
- Goal: Barter ability.
- Allocation:
- 60% Emergency-Liquid (Junk Silver).
- 20% Sleep-Well (Generic Rounds).
- 20% Gold Fractional (for bribes/big purchases).
2. The Wealth Preserver (Inflation Focus)
- Goal: Beat the dollar.
- Allocation:
- 80% Sleep-Well (Low premium 10oz Bars / Tubes of Eagles).
- 10% Legacy Coins (Heirloom quality).
- 10% Speculative (Mining stocks or high-risk numismatics).
3. The Hobbyist (Fun Focus)
- Goal: Enjoyment + Savings.
- Allocation:
- 50% Dealer-Friendly (To ensure exit liquidity).
- 50% "Whatever looks cool."
- Rule: Never spend rent money on the "Fun" half.
The Next Step
Don't overthink the exact percentages. Just check your current stack. If you own 0% Junk Silver, you are weak on "Emergency Liquidity." If you own 0% Generic Bars, you are weak on "Sleep-Well" (paying too high premiums).
Balance the scales.
