The "Death Folder": What Needs to Be in It

When you are gone, your family will be confused. This folder is their map. Here are the 5 documents you must include.

We call it the "Red Folder." It sits next to the safe. It contains no valuables. It contains Intelligence.

Document 1: The Inventory

A simple spreadsheet.

  • Column A: Item (e.g., 20oz Tube of Eagles)
  • Column B: Location (e.g., Floor Safe)
  • Column C: Approximate Value (e.g., $600)

Document 2: The "Friend" List

Who should they call for help? Write down the name of One Trusted Friend who knows about metals. Write: "Call Bob at 555-0199. He will tell you if a dealer is lying to you."

Document 3: Receipts (Provenance)

If you bought from APMEX or JM Bullion, print the receipts. Why? Because when your heirs go to sell, having proof that the coins were bought from a major dealer proves they are authentic. It stops the pawn broker from saying "These might be fake."
