How to Store Coins You May Sell Later (Liquidity Storage)
If you plan to sell privately, you need to store differently than if you plan to sell to a dealer. Here is why.
Storage isn't just about protection. It's about Presentation. When you go to sell, you want your product to look like it came from a professional, not a pirate hoard.
The Dealer Psychology
When you walk into a shop with coins in:
- Dirty Socks: The dealer assumes they are stolen or fake. He tests every single one. He offers you less.
- Crisp, Labeled Tubes: The dealer assumes you are a serious collector. He spot-checks one. He offers you Top Dollar.
The 20-Coin Rule
Store generic rounds in tubes of 20. Why? Because that is the Universal Unit of Trade. Dealers are busy. They hate counting loose coins. If you stick a tube of 20 on the counter, they can weigh the whole tube and pay you in 30 seconds. Make it EASY for people to give you money.
