And what I learned from them
I love good quotes.
They inspire me to reflect, take action, and learn life lessons.
Good quotes can be funny, meaningful, scary, illuminating, and fun to read.
If reflected upon and applied, these quotes can truly be life-changing.
Here are some of my favorites that have changed my life forever.
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
~ The Buddha
We all deserve a little bit of love and if we can’t love ourselves, how can we love others?
When I think about this it reminds me to do things that feel good and think of things that make me happy.
Look in the mirror, smile, and say ‘I love you.’
“If there is a God, he will have to beg for my forgiveness.”
~ Found on the wall of a German concentration camp after WW2
It makes you wonder what type of misery and suffering humans can inflict upon each other.
The stories from some of these camps are horrendous and can send chills down your spine.
It makes you wonder how deep despair can go when you see a quote like this.
Think about your life and be grateful for both the large and the small and realize how good you really do have it compared to this poor soul.
“The garden of the world has no limits, except in your mind.”
This one reminds me that the world is filled with wonders and possibilities and is without limits.
And that the only true limitations are those which we set upon ourselves.
Realize that if one person in the world has done it, then whatever you set your mind upon you can also achieve.
Break free and believe!
“It Does Not Matter How Slowly You Go as Long as You Do Not Stop”
No matter how hard the journey, you can get there one small step at a time.
There truly is no rush as long as you are making progress. It is when you stop and give up that you run into problems.
Persist until you succeed, enjoy the journey, and be happy with each small step you take.
“You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”
~ Marcus Aurelius
What a great quote for the current times we are living in.
Realize that the only thing you really have complete control over is your thoughts.
And once you start controlling your thoughts your start to take control over your life.
Be strong and think good, positive, loving, and courageous thoughts.
“Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.”
~ Thomas Jefferson
Your actions are what the world sees.
Get out in the world and take action in the direction of your goals and these acts will define how the world sees you.
What do you want to be written on your tombstone?
Act now to make it happen.
“We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.”
~ The Dali Lama
We all strive for happiness and peace in our daily lives, but many times we are left with a hole deep inside that needs to be filled.
I can remember in my early days at a Catholic mass where they exchanged the greeting, ‘Peace be with you.’ and how it made me feel.
Go within and find that peaceful spot right now.
Close your eyes, take a deep breath and say ‘Peace.’
- Look in the mirror every morning, smile, and say ‘I Love you.’
- Write 10 different things you are grateful for each day
- Remove all limits and know that whatever the human mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.
- Take one small step towards your goal each day and never stop. Persist until you succeed.
- Think courageous thoughts like ‘I can do it’ every night before bed and know that you have the power to control your mind.
- Take action on the things that really matter and build a legacy.
- Go within whenever the world becomes too much to handle and find your peaceful place.
I hope these quotes have helped you and given you something to think about.
Use them to change your life in small, but profound ways.
