Please take some advice from this old guy
“Information is not knowledge, knowledge is not wisdom, and wisdom is not foresight. Each grows out of the other, and we need them all.”
― Arthur C. Clarke
Habits are efficient.
They let you take daily action in easy and efficient ways.
And once something is a habit, it can provide tremendous value to your life it is valuable.
Here are six valuable habits that I wish I would have started earlier in my life.
Read from a non-fiction book every day
I can honestly say that this is the one habit that has changed my life forever.
I know it can be hard to find time for it, but even if you read just one page a day, you will start to see benefits after just a short time.
Reading exercises and maintains your brain.
It allows you to download knowledge that can be applied to your problems and lets you see into the minds of some of the greatest thinkers who ever lived.
Make it a habit to read at least one page before bed every day.
Become an idea machine
I recently wrote an article about “Are Ideas Really The New Currency Of The 21st Century?”
Basically, it tells you to practice coming up with 10 ideas about something every day.
It doesn’t really matter what that something is, it is the daily practice of coming up with the ideas that will make the difference.
It could be ten ways to be grateful, or ten new side hustles to start, or ten people or books that really influenced your life, or ten foods you should start eating more of.
Try it for 6 months and I promise it will blow your socks off.
Watch who you spend your time with
Who you spend time with is who you become.
If you want to master your life, it is important that you surround yourself with people who inspire you to achieve greatness.
Take a good look at the people you spend time with on a daily basis.
Are they healthy? wealthy? wise?
Do they motivate and inspire you?
If not, try and find someone who is slightly above your level in whatever area of life you want to advance in.
Have a child-like curiosity about life
Children are some of the most creative creators around and we need to maintain or go back to this state.
Always question the obvious.
Ask yourself why five times to dig really deep into your problems.
Explore knowledge outside your area of expertise.
Read the front page of Wikipedia every day.
Look at areas of interest that you have never had the chance to delve into.
Realize that people are more important than money
When people are on their death beds, most of their regrets come from not spending more time with their loved ones.
Sure, money is important, but don’t let it rule your life.
Be kind and make time for those you love.
Here is a short poem to remind you that love can make a difference
Life gets very busy.
Things get in the way.
Do I have time to visit?
I’ll go another day.
There’s no sense of urgency.
You think you still have time
To go again another day.
You tell yourself it’s fine.
Until you realize you’re too late.
Another day won’t come.
The truth too hard to contemplate.
The past can’t be undone.
Your heart, it aches for all the times
You never got to see
This person you loved so much,
But you were never free.
You’ll never hear their voice again
Or look into their eyes.
People will say it’s for the best
But to you it feels like a lie.
Your loved one is at peace now
With the ones they had lost.
You have to make peace somehow
With this devastating loss.
Stop thinking it will all be fine
Or that you don’t have time today,
For all you know, you won’t have time
To go another day.

Get that daily walk in.
Do some squats every time you go to the bathroom.
Do those push-ups every morning when you wake up.
Make it a habit now, before it is too late and you will be very glad you did.
It is much easier to build and maintain the body you have at a young age than to try and correct issues when you are older.
- Read at least one page from a non-fiction book daily.
- Write ten new ideas every day.
- Find, make a friend and spend time with one person who is wealthier than you.
- Read the Wikipedia Main Page every morning
- Spend quality time with someone you love every day
- Go on a walk every day, do squats every time you go the bathroom, and do push-ups every morning when you wake up
Please take my advice and incorporate these daily habits into your life.
I promise you that you will be glad you did!
