Virginia Copeland of Campus Reform reported on several acts of vandalism that swept across Washington, D.C. in the last few weeks.

One of the most notable was the desecration of a bust of George Washington, America’s first president. According to the GW Hatchet, six incidents related to protests took place on campus from late May to early June. Conservative activist Kara Zuckus went on Twitter to highlight how Washington’s bust on the campus of George Washington University in downtown Washington, D.C. disappeared.

This incident went unnoticed, especially by GW officials, for several weeks.

“A stunning image– looks like GW may have removed George Washington’s head to protect it from riots in DC. Truly disconcerting times,” Zupkus tweeted on June 2. At the time of this tweet, it was not clear whether the university had taken down the bust out of fear that it might get damaged by agitators or if it had already received damage during the riots.

Later on, Zuckus tweeted, saying that the bust was “apparently” toppled.

The campus newspaper published a campus crime log, which detailed the vandalization of the Washington bust.

“A GWPD officer found the head of a George Washington statue removed from a stand near the Greek Townhouses at the corner of 23rd and F streets. The head was found laying at the base of the stand. GWPD called Facilities Services following the discovery,” the log recounted.

Zupkus then tweeted on June 23, “Today, @JonathanTurley confirmed my fears: the GW statue was toppled by rioters, and @GWtweets, in an attempt to sweep the incident under the rug, has failed to release a statement THREE weeks later. https://jonathanturley.org/2020/06/23/pro

So far, GWPD has found no suspects or witnesses during investigations to determine who was behind the desecration of the George Washington bust.

Universities, which are virtual appendages of the Left, have been largely complicit in the radicalization of these movements.

If they had a scintilla of decency, they would be standing up to these vandals and cracking down on acts of vandalization
