One person was flown to Dunedin Hospital after a serious crash in Drummond on Saturday.

One person was flown to Dunedin Hospital after a serious crash in Drummond on Saturday.

One person has been flown to Dunedin Hospital after a concrete truck and ute collided near Drummond.

A police spokeswoman said the crash happened on Drummond-Heddon Bush Rd at the intersection of Mayfield Rd at 8.35am on Saturday.

One person with serious injuries had been airlifted to Dunedin Hospital and one person with moderate injuries was taken to Southland Hospital, the spokeswoman said.

The road was initially blocked, she said.

A scene examination had taken place and investigations were ongoing.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said two crews from Otautau were sent to the scene and helped excavate one person trapped in the car.
