It’s safe to say that the year 2020 has been a tough one for all of us.

With the global Covid-19 pandemic changing the way we live our lives and the worldwide emergence of the Black Lives Matter movement shedding light on the systemic racism embedded into much of Western society, it can definitely be too much to handle for some.

On August 11th, fans of the actor LaKeith Stanfield, best known for his roles in Get Out, Knives Out and Atlanta, were left fearing for the 28-year-old after he uploaded a string of concerning posts to his Instagram account.

LaKeith Stanfield posts worrying videos to Instagram

On the night of August 10th-11th, actor LaKeith Stanfield caused a huge amount of concern for his 900,000 Instagram followers after he posted a string of worrying videos to the social media site.

The videos, which have now been deleted, appeared to show Stanfield pouring alcohol into a pill bottle according to Newsweek.

The concerning posts were made even more troubling due to the captions used by the 28-year-old actor, who turns 29 tomorrow, August 12th.

On one of the posts, Stanfield wrote: “I like to be by myself because i can hurt myself and no one tells me to stop or fakes like they care.”

While another read: “Reality is boring and moves too slow and no one is trustworthy.”

Fans worried for LaKeith Stanfield

Unsurprisingly, fans across social media, including comedian Patton Oswalt, were quick to pick up on the worrying posts from LaKeith and many called for someone to check up on the 28-year-old actor.

One Twitter user wrote: “I hope LaKeith Stanfield is ok. This is alarming. Hopefully some good folks in his life are going to check on him ASAP.”

While another added: “Can someone check up on Lakeith Stanfield? His latest IG posts are unsettling.”


LaKeith Stanfield responds

Thankfully, it didn’t take too long for LaKeith Stanfield to respond to fan concern.

After deleting the string of worrying videos, the actor uploaded a new post to his Instagram with a reassuring message for fans.

“I’m ok everyone! I appreciate everyone checking in on me but I’m good,” he wrote, apologising for the concern caused, “I’m not harming myself. Much love.”

LaKeith’s message of assurance was echoed by Platform PR, LaKeith’s publicists, who posted on Twitter: “LaKeith is well. Thank you for the concern. We have spoken to him. The love you all have is appreciated.”
