Left Set Fire To Trump Displays, Burn Down Mobile Home

Since the election process started, the Democrats have painted the Republicans as degenerates who do nothing but go around starting fights and burning down buildings. The interesting fact is not only are the left the ones behind the attacks and arson, but it also appears they might be behind voter suppression according to California Representative Devin Nunes. Guns and Control

"We are neither pro-gun nor anti-gun," proclaims the Gun Facts Project, an organization launched by San Francisco writer Guy Smith two decades ago. "We are pro-math and anti-BS." Smith, a marketing consultant with a background in quantitative management, stays true to that ethos in Guns and Control, which summarizes reams of relevant data while evenhandedly faulting advocates on both sides of the debate for manipulating numbers to fit their agendas. The book nevertheless is apt to leave open-minded readers more skeptical of conventional responses to gun-related deaths. That problem, Smith emphasizes, is multifaceted. In the United States, suicides account for nearly two-thirds of the deaths that gun control advocates misleadingly describe as the toll from "gun violence." The gun homicide rate has fallen dramatically since the early 1990s, although polling indicates that most Americans think otherwise. That misperception may have something to do with the publicity received by mass shootings, which represent a tiny percentage of gun homicides but have been rising since 1999. Fatal gun accidents, meanwhile, are rare and getting rarer. Based on international comparisons, Smith finds little evidence that the availability of firearms explains differences in suicide and homicide rates. That suggests policies aimed at reducing access to guns won't do much good, especially since criminals generally obtain firearms from sources the law cannot reach. Smith's discussion of nondiscretionary carry permit laws is emblematic of his data-driven approach. While cautioning against assuming that the "massive expansion of public carry in the United States since 1988" drove down crime, he notes that the bloodbath predicted by opponents of those laws never materialized. That "criminological experiment," he suggests, "is important to understanding people, guns, and violence."

The Portland Protest Shooter's Death Looks More and More Like Excessive Force—but Trump Keeps Bragging About It

Execution squad? The more that comes out about the federal task force killing of Portland murder suspect Michael Forest Reinoehl, the worse his death looks. The president isn't helping. "We sent in the U.S. Marshals. Took 15 minutes, it was over. Fifteen minutes, it was over—we got him," Donald Trump told a crowd in North Carolina on Thursday. "They knew who he was. They didn't want to arrest him, and 15 minutes—that ended." A benefit-of-the-doubt reading here would be that Trump's "they" who "didn't want to arrest" was a reference to the Portland police—who hadn't yet arrested Reinoehl by the time the task force intervened—and not an admission that agents didn't want to take Reinoehl in alive (as some have been reading it). But either way, the end of the mission is nothing to be bragging about. By many accounts, the officers didn't even attempt to arrest Reinoehl peacefully. Investigators said this week that Reinoehl—pursued for fatally shooting Aaron "Jay" Danielson during a confrontation at an August 29 protest in Portland—had a loaded handgun when local law enforcement serving on the U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force killed him on September 3. But the gun was still in Reinoehl's front pants pocket as police fired more than 30 bullets at him. "The new information follows initial reports from investigators [that] the federal fugitive task force involved in shooting Reinoehl gave conflicting statements," reports ABC News. One member of the task force claimed that Reinoehl pointed a gun at them. Another said that didn't happen, but Reinoehl was reaching for a gun when they shot him. A U.S. Marshal's Office press release claimed Reinoehl "produced a firearm, threatening the lives of law enforcement officers." This week, Thurston County Sheriff's Lt. Ray Brady said that Reinoehl's hand may have been on a gun or may have been merely "near" the gun. At a Tuesday press conference, investigators said they still do not know if the gun in Reinoehl's pocket on the night of his death was the same gun used to kill Danielson a few nights prior. Almost two dozen witnesses to Reinoehl's subsequent death say task force members never identified themselves or warned Reinoehl before opening fire on him, though Sheriff Brady disputed this on Tuesday. Nathaniel Dingess, who lived nearby, told The Oregonian in September that he "saw Reinoehl walk toward his car holding a cellphone in his hand when two unmarked law enforcement vehicles converged outside the complex [and] began firing at Reinoehl." After initially shooting, they told Reinoehl to halt and then resumed shooting, Dingess said, adding that he never saw Reinoehl reach for a gun. The New York Times talked with 22 people who had been nearby when Reinoehl was killed, and only one recalled the task force members saying anything before they starting shooting: Mr. Louis…some 140 feet from Mr. Reinoehl, also said the police opened fire immediately, without giving any warnings—as did Mr. Smith and Mr. Cutler. "There was no, 'Get out of the car!' There was no, 'Stop!' There was no nothing. They just got out of the car and started shooting," Mr. Louis said. Mr. Smith described it similarly: "There was no yelling. There was no screaming. There was no altercation. It was just straight to gunshots." Of the five eyewitnesses, none saw Reinoehl holding or reaching for a gun. Despite the questions surrounding the officers conduct, Trump has repeatedly bragged about this operation—and even described it as "retribution." On a night originally slated for a debate between Trump and Biden, the Republican and Democratic nominees instead squared off in dueling TV interviews. During Biden's time taking questions in Philadelphia from ABC host George Stephanopoulos, Biden said police should shoot people in the leg as a deescalation tactic (this is a bad idea); asked if he supports court packing, he said he was "open to considering what happens" after the Amy Coney Barrett confirmation process. "We shouldn't be defunding cops," Biden says, suggesting instead that there be more mandates and training for police officers. Including, I guess, telling them to shoot people in the leg? — Eric Boehm (@EricBoehm87) October 16, 2020 On NBC, Trump spread major misinformation about masks, claiming erroneously that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said "that 85 percent of the people wearing masks catch" COVID-19. He also evaded questions about his taxes, whether he took a coronavirus test before the first debate, and more. And he claimed (once again) that he has "done more for the African-American community than any president with the exception of Abraham Lincoln." Trump, once again, is saying he has a plan to replace Obamacare, then explaining that he…got rid of Obamacare's individual mandate. Which is neither repeal nor replace. It's like promising to do the dishes, then when the dishes aren't done saying, I cleaned a fork. — Peter Suderman (@petersuderman) October 16, 2020 Meanwhile, libertarian presidential nominee Jo Jorgensen talked with Reason's Matt Welch. Watch that here. FREE MINDS Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Ajit Pai announced yesterday that he will accept the Trump administration's request to "interpret" Section 230. While Pai's announcement isn't necessarily bad news, it's not a good sign that he announced the effort in a statement misrepresenting the law as a special protection for tech companies—a popular bit of ant-230 propaganda that simply is not true. Ironically, @AjitPaiFCC is adding to the confusion by misstating the law. Section 230 does NOT convey "a special immunity denied to other media outlets, such as newspapers and broadcasters." It applies all the same to social media companies, newspapers, broadcasters, you, and me. https://t.co/PqmEeHn7Sv — Justin Amash (@justinamash) October 15, 2020 Prominent Republicans pushed several misconceptions about Section 230 yesterday, as hysteria about it reaches a fever pitch among extremely online conservatives. The most prominent of these is the idea "publisher" and "platform" are legal categories which websites must stay on one side or the other of. Every time someone writes this, translate it as "I am completely ignorant of Internet law." Not because they're "really" platforms, but because the categories are wrong. The law doesn't classify companies as "publisher" or "platform." https://t.co/XG2qm35xvK — Julian Sanchez (@normative) October 15, 2020 (For good primers on Section 230 myths, see this Reason TV video and this Techdirt post.) FREE MARKETS Bill Gates questions antitrust investigation. Microsoft founder Bill Gates spoke out against the congressional strategy of tackling tech companies' potential antitrust violations as a group, rather than on a company-by-company basis. "I think it's kind of unfortunate that they're grouping the companies together, because there are so many different issues," Gates said at the GeekWire Summit. Antitrust enforcers famously targeted Microsoft in the 1990s. "If they want to get serious, they're going to have to focus in, enumerate the issues and them debate them. So I'd say we're kind of at the beginning," he continued. Gates thinks we should be having more conversation about how tech practices affect consumers and "a little less about demonizing the specific people involved." Gates also commended today's tech CEOs for their ability to play nice with politicians and regulators: I think the main mistake I made, which was not realizing how important it would be to develop relationships in Washington, be engaged there—these companies are not making the same mistake that I made. They have lots of people. Jeff even has a nice house in Washington, DC. They may even be making some other mistakes. But everybody saw what I did and knows better now. If their recent treatment is what it looks like when they suck up to D.C. power, I shudder to think what things would look like otherwise. Minnesota National Guard Activated Out Of “Abundance of Caution”

Mac SlavoOctober 8th, 2020SHTFplan.com We are seeing the National Guard rolled out in American cities as looters and rioters wreak havoc on businesses and individuals as a “protest” to police killings. Understandably, people on both sides are upset, yet this is just another way to get the public used to martial law. “Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of Minnesotans, we have asked the Minnesota National Guard to prepare to assist in keeping the peace,” Governor Tim Walz said. There is definitely an attempt to keep the violence levels high so we all get used to seeing the military on our streets.  According to officials (the ruling class), the National Guard was activated following the release of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin from a correctional facility. Chauvin was captured on video kneeling on the neck of George Floyd until he died. National Guard Put On Standby For The Coming Preplanned Chaos

Mac SlavoOctober 8th, 2020SHTFplan.com After a violent summer of looting, rioting, and protests, the national guard has been put on standby for the preplanned incoming chaos. The National Guard has put hundreds of military police on standby specifically to help law enforcement deal with any potential violence in the coming months, three United States military officials said. Military officials told Reuters that while the units were not specifically created to address potential violence around the November 3 elections, their existence highlights how the military could help deal with unrest around the vote without deploying active-duty troops to cities. Apparently, this is a key tenet for Pentagon leadership. Is it possible that the national guard is on standby for this too? The Pentagon & CDC Will Join Together To Mass Distribute The COVID Vaccine They have preplanned this election chaos, and for those who can see it, we understand that a military martial law police state was the plan from the beginning. Maybe the protests and looting and rioting haven’t been violent enough.  Who knows.  But we have been warned of the “darkest winter” and election violence for several months now. We should have known we would need to prepare for martial law, especially considering the government has already told us the military will deliver the vaccine around election time. Vaccine Update: The Military Has A HEAVY-HANDED Involvement In Operation Warp Speed A senior National Guard official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the military police “Rapid Response Units” had been established in the past month and could deploy to any part of the country within 24 hours if requested by a governor. “We’re in very unique times right now in our country, we’ve seen several instances of where civil disturbances escalated very quickly to riots, extensive property damage,” the official said. The units would be on standby until at least the end of the year, the official said. –Yahoo News Suddenly the government is concerned about property damage when looters and rioters have been destroying things for months? This is uncanny timing and bears scrutiny. All of this seems to be set to coalesce into something big around election time. Please stay alert and prepared for anything. The signs are there that we need to remain vigilant and understand what could go down. The election is now a mere 26 days away. President Trump is Breaking Down the Neck of the Federal Reserve! White House Tries To Ensure Vaccine Is Available Before The Election

Mac SlavoOctober 6th, 2020SHTFplan.com The White House has taken even more steps to ensure a vaccine for the COVID-19 scamdemic will be available by the election, which is scheduled to take place on November 3. The Trump administration has removed Food and Drug Administration regulations that would prevent a vaccine from being ready before November. Time is running out. There will be a vaccine and you will be expected to take it voluntarily. If you don’t, you will be punished until you comply. This has become all to obvious, but people are still under some delusion that they will be offered a reasonable alternative to accepting this vaccine. At issue was the FDA’s planned instruction that vaccine developers follow patients enrolled in their trials for at least two months to rule out safety issues before seeking emergency approval from the agency. A senior administration confirmed the move Monday evening, saying the White House believed there was “no clinical or medical reason” for the additional requirement. –Market Watch This means the safety rules in place (which aren’t that stringent for vaccines to begin with) are going to be removed in order to make sure a vaccine is pushed through by the election. Operation Warp Speed will be rolled out as soon as possible. Trump: “The Military Is Ready To Deliver A Vaccine” Only one drugmaker, Pfizer, has suggested it could have data on the safety and effectiveness of its vaccine before Election Day. And a number of variables would still have to align for the company to submit, and the FDA to review and approve, a vaccine application before Nov. 3. Pfizer’s competitors Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson are working on longer researcher timelines.-Market Watch Moderna Says Their COVID-19 Vaccine Will NOT Be Ready Before The Election Just because the vaccine may not be available by November 3, doesn’t mean one won’t be rolled out shortly afterward.  The Trump administration seems intent upon releasing a vaccine to the public before the election. Stock up food and water because you probably won’t be allowed in stores or to work. Bryce Hall Shocks Fans With Gruesome Video of Sway Members in a Fist Fight

The Sway House is one of the most popular TikTok content houses as it features the video-sharing app’s favorite male heartthrobs. However, the members are known for their rambunctious habits as they continually get into trouble.  After Sway hosted a huge party for Bryce Hall’s 21st birthday in the middle of a pandemic – causing the city to shut off their water and power – it seemed that the Sway boys were laying low and trying to not interfere with the law, but they just can’t stay out of trouble. From large parties to drug charges, Sway member Bryce Hall is known for his partying and reckless behaviors – he profits off this reputation by selling “Party Animal University” merchandise. @brycehall im jus vibin dude ♬ New Thang – Redfoo What Happened? Adding to his reputation, Hall tweeted out a video where he and other Sway members are involved in a fist fight with a man outside of a Mel’s Diner. we don’t condone violence, but if you punch someone in front of us, we’ll have no choice but to defend ourselves. pic.twitter.com/2SC2MHLqhB — Bryce Hall (@BryceHall) October 5, 2020 According to TMZ, the fight took place on September 23 after a drunk Sway member – Nick Bean – placed a cone under a man’s car. This act provoked the man to punch Bean in the face leading other Sway members to immediately attack the man to protect their friend. Eventually, law enforcement got involved and the two parties worked it out and agreed not to press any charges. Last night, Hall decided to post the violent video causing people to swarm to social media as they tried to identify the people involved. After analyzing the video, most determined that Josh Richards and Jaden Hossler were throwing the punches while Bryce Hall and Jordan Rodriguez (Jrod) are seen pulling their friends off of the man in attempts to diffuse the situation.  Response Hall has been caught in fights before, but many were shocked by Richards’s involvement as he is seen being very aggressive and throwing most of the punches. Richards’s behavior in the video contradicts his professional career as he has taken on many business ventures including co-founding Talent X and becoming the chief strategy officer for Triller.  @joshrichards Morning buds ♬ Tap In x Rags2Riches x Wet – carneyval The Sway boys may have been defending their friend, but their actions have a great impact on their fans. However, is there limit? The Sway boys are very young, and because TikTok is so new it is hard to tell if their actions will follow them into their adult lives. Also, we have to keep in mind the majority of TikTok users are very young, and they are being exposed to a lot of mature content that may influence them to act in coherence with these influencers as recklessness is being glorified. Is there a way for influencers to make mistakes without jeopardizing the future for many young kids? Do you think this situation was avoidable and could the Sway boys have handled it differently?

Justice Sleeps and ‘We the People’ Suffer: No, the U.S. Supreme Court Will Not Save Us

This article was originally published by John W. Whitehead at The Rutherford Institute.  “The Constitution is not neutral. It was designed to take the government off the backs of the people.”—Justice William O. Douglas The U.S. Supreme Court will not save us. It doesn’t matter which party gets to pick the replacement to fill Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. The battle that is gearing up right now is yet more distraction and spin to keep us oblivious to the steady encroachment on our rights by the architects of the American Police State. Americans can no longer rely on the courts to mete out justice. Although the courts were established to serve as Courts of Justice, what we have been saddled with, instead, are Courts of Order. This is true at all levels of the judiciary, but especially so in the highest court of the land, the U.S. Supreme Court, which is seemingly more concerned with establishing order and protecting government interests than with upholding the rights of the people enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. As a result, the police and other government agents have been generally empowered to probe, poke, pinch, taser, search, seize, strip, and generally manhandle anyone they see fit in almost any circumstance, all with the general blessing of the courts. Rarely do the concerns of the populace prevail. When presented with an opportunity to loosen the government’s noose that keeps getting cinched tighter and tighter around the necks of the American people, what does our current Supreme Court usually do? It ducks. Prevaricates. Remains silent. Speaks to the narrowest possible concern. More often than not, it gives the government and its corporate sponsors the benefit of the doubt, which leaves “we the people” hanging by a thread. Rarely do the justices of the U.S. Supreme Court— preoccupied with their personal politics, cocooned in a world of privilege, partial to those with power, money, and influence, and narrowly focused on a shrinking docket (the court accepts on average 80 cases out of 8,000 each year)—venture beyond their rarefied comfort zones. Every so often, the justices toss a bone to those who fear they have abdicated their allegiance to the Constitution. Too often, however, the Supreme Court tends to march in lockstep with the police state. In recent years, for example, the Court has ruled that police officers can use lethal force in car chases without fear of lawsuits; police officers can stop cars based only on “anonymous” tips; Secret Service agents are not accountable for their actions, as long as they’re done in the name of “security”; citizens only have a right to remain silent if they assert it; police have free reign to use drug-sniffing dogs as “search warrants on leashes,” justifying any and all police searches of vehicles stopped on the roadside; police can forcibly take your DNA, whether or not you’ve been convicted of a crime; police can stop, search, question and profile citizens and non-citizens alike; police can subject Americans to virtual strip searches, no matter the “offense”; police can break into homes without a warrant, even if it’s the wrong home; and it’s a crime to not identify yourself when a policeman asks your name. The cases the Supreme Court refuses to hear, allowing lower court judgments to stand, are almost as critical as the ones they rule on. Some of these cases have delivered devastating blows to the lives and rights enshrined in the Constitution. By remaining silent, the Court has affirmed that: legally owning a firearm is enough to justify a no-knock raid by police; the military can arrest and detain American citizens; students can be subjected to random lockdowns and mass searches at school; and police officers who don’t know their actions violate the law aren’t guilty of breaking the law. You think you’ve got rights? Think again. All of those freedoms we cherish—the ones enshrined in the Constitution, the ones that affirm our right to free speech and assembly, due process, privacy, bodily integrity, the right to not have police seize our property without a warrant, or search and detain us without probable cause—amount to nothing when the government and its agents are allowed to disregard those prohibitions on government overreach at will. This is the grim reality of life in the American police state. In fact, our so-called rights have been reduced to technicalities in the face of the government’s ongoing power grabs. In the police state being erected around us, the police can probe, poke, pinch, taser, search, seize, strip, and generally manhandle anyone they see fit in almost any circumstance, all with the general blessing of the courts. This is what one would call a slow death by a thousand cuts, only it’s the Fourth Amendment being inexorably bled to death by the very institution that is supposed to be protecting it (and us) from government abuse. Remember, it was a unanimous Supreme Court which determined that police officers may use drug-sniffing dogs to conduct warrantless searches of cars during routine traffic stops. That same Court gave police the green light to taser defenseless motorists, strip search non-violent suspects arrested for minor incidents, and break down people’s front doors without evidence that they have done anything wrong. Make no mistake about it: this is what constitutes “law and order” in the American police state. These are the hallmarks of the emerging American police state, where police officers, no longer mere servants of the people entrusted with keeping the peace, are part of an elite ruling class dependent on keeping the masses corralled, under control, and treated like suspects and enemies rather than citizens. Whether it’s police officers breaking through people’s front doors and shooting them dead in their homes or strip-searching motorists on the side of the road, in a police state such as ours, these instances of abuse are not condemned by the government. Rather, they are continually validated by a judicial system that kowtows to every police demand, no matter how unjust, no matter how in opposition to the Constitution. The system is rigged. Because the system is rigged and the U.S. Supreme Court—the so-called “people’s court”—has exchanged its appointed role as a gatekeeper of justice for its new role as maintainer of the status quo, the police state will keep winning and “we the people” will keep losing. By refusing to accept any of the eight or so qualified immunity cases before it this past term that strove to hold police accountable for official misconduct, the Supreme Court delivered a chilling reminder that in the American police state, ‘we the people’ are at the mercy of law enforcement officers who have almost absolute discretion to decide who is a threat, what constitutes resistance, and how harshly they can deal with the citizens they were appointed to ‘serve and protect.” This is how qualified immunity keeps the police state in power. Lawyers tend to offer a lot of complicated, convoluted explanations for the doctrine of qualified immunity, which was intended to insulate government officials from frivolous lawsuits, but the real purpose of qualified immunity is to rig the system, ensuring that abusive agents of the government almost always win and the victims of government abuse almost always lose. How else do you explain a doctrine that requires victims of police violence to prove that their abusers knew their behavior was illegal because it had been deemed so in a nearly identical case at some prior time? It’s a setup for failure. A review of critical court rulings over the past several decades, including rulings affirming qualified immunity protections for government agents by the U.S. Supreme Court, reveals a startling and steady trend towards pro-police state rulings by an institution concerned more with establishing order, protecting the ruling class, and insulating government agents from charges of wrongdoing than with upholding the rights enshrined in the Constitution. Indeed, as Reuters reports, qualified immunity “has become a nearly failsafe tool to let police brutality go unpunished and deny victims their constitutional rights.” Worse, as Reuters concluded, “the Supreme Court has built qualified immunity into an often insurmountable police defense by intervening in cases mostly to favor the police.” For those in need of a reminder of all the ways in which the Supreme Court has made us sitting ducks at the mercy of the American police state, let me offer the following. As a result of court rulings in recent years, police can claim qualified immunity for warrantless searches. Police can claim qualified immunity for warrantless arrests based on mere suspicion. Police can claim qualified immunity for using excessive force against protesters. Police can claim qualified immunity for shooting a fleeing suspect in the back. Police can claim qualified immunity for shooting a mentally impaired person. Police officers can use lethal force in car chases without fear of lawsuits. Police can stop, arrest, and search citizens without reasonable suspicion or probable cause.  Police officers can stop cars based on “anonymous” tips or for “suspicious” behavior such as having a reclined car seat or driving too carefully. Police can forcibly take your DNA, whether or not you’ve been convicted of a crime.  Police can use the “fear for my life” rationale as an excuse for shooting unarmed individuals. Police have free reign to use drug-sniffing dogs as “search warrants on leashes.” Not only are police largely protected by qualified immunity, but police dogs are also off the hook for wrongdoing. Police can subject Americans to strip searches, no matter the “offense.” Police can break into homes without a warrant, even if it’s the wrong home. Police can use knock-and-talk tactics as a means of sidestepping the Fourth Amendment. Police can carry out no-knock raids if they believe announcing themselves would be dangerous. Police can recklessly open fire on anyone that might be “armed.” Police can destroy a home during a SWAT raid, even if the owner gives their consent to enter and search it. Police can suffocate someone, deliberately or inadvertently, in the process of subduing them. To sum it up, we are dealing with a nationwide epidemic of court-sanctioned police violence carried out with impunity against individuals posing little or no real threat. In this way, the justices of the United States Supreme Court—through their deference to police power, preference for security over freedom, and evisceration of our most basic rights for the sake of order and expediency—have become the architects of the American police state. So where does that leave us? For those deluded enough to believe that they’re living the American dream—where the government represents the people, where the people are equal in the eyes of the law, where the courts are arbiters of justice, where the police are keepers of the peace, and where the law is applied equally as a means of protecting the rights of the people—it’s time to wake up. We no longer have a representative government, a rule of law, or justice. Liberty has fallen to legalism. Freedom has fallen to fascism. Justice has become jaded, jaundiced, and just plain unjust. And for too many, the American dream of freedom and opportunity has turned into a living nightmare. Given the turbulence of our age, with its police overreach, military training drills on American soil, domestic surveillance, SWAT team raids, asset forfeiture, wrongful convictions, profit-driven prisons, and corporate corruption, the need for a guardian of the people’s rights has never been greater. Yet as I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, neither the president, nor the legislatures, nor the courts will save us from the police state that holds us in its clutches. So we can waste our strength over the next few weeks and months raging over the makeup of the Supreme Court or we can stand united against the tyrant in our midst. After all, the president, the legislatures, and the courts are all on the government’s payroll. They are the police state.

The Ugly Truth About the Campaign to End Mass Incarceration

Please respect our republishing guidelines - Click Here A New York City man has been arrested for derailing a Manhattan subway train by tossing metal debris onto the tracks. The alleged perpetrator had been charged for attacking a city bus with a metal street barricade and smashing in windows only a couple of weeks earlier – and was released without bail. In Miami, a young man viciously assaulted a woman riding a subway train. The unprovoked beat down was caught on camera and showed the assailant punching the victim repeatedly and slamming her head into a wall and the seat. This same man reportedly went on to attack two other people in similar incidents on the Miami metro that same day. He was let out on $1,500 bond. It’s easy to see where the push to empty the prisons is going to lead. In fact, it is already happening. The movement to “end mass incarceration” will have a hard time convincing regular Americans of the efficacy of its campaign after they’re assaulted on their morning commute – or if the train itself careens off the rails – all because some dangerous criminal was allowed to run free in the name of some ill-defined “social justice” mantra. Cut Them Loose Activists who spearheaded a radical criminal justice reform bill through the New York state legislature in 2019 are still irate that their shiny new law was tapered back in the wake of a crime wave. “The law, which passed in April 2019, limited the number of crimes for which judges could set bail, mostly to violent felonies,” Politico reported. “Almost everyone else — those who make up 90 percent of arrests in the state — could walk free while they waited for their trial date.” The law took effect in January. After the New York City Police Department released a report stating that crime had risen 22.5% in February 2020 compared with February 2019, mounting public pressure led to a bail reform law swiftly being passed in April to scale back the free passes. “If we had been able to give those changes time and space to take hold, I’m very confident that we would have seen how right we were,” Scott Hechinger, a New York bail reform advocate, mourned. “The problem was, we didn’t have patience.” Despite the new bail reform law, it’s apparent that open-the-prisons advocates still wield significant clout. Why else would Demetrius Harvard be let go with no bail after smashing windows on a city bus? A man whose wife was on the train derailed by Harvard’s menacingly anti-social act stated the very crux of the matter that will prove so hard for progressive activists to overcome in the long run. “This has me so frightened for my wife, on the trains,” Prymnauth Persaud told The New York Post. “I am worried when she is on the subways now. We are all taking the subway. We all still have to work.” Yes, but some of us have comfortable ivory towers instead of cubicles. John Pfaff, a law professor at Fordham, wants to make it clear that his championing of a looser criminal justice system most certainly refers to violent criminals as well. “Our draconian approach toward violent crime rests on viewing certain people, and certain groups of people, as not fully human,” the professor opined in an audacious April 10 piece for The Washington Post. “This has always been a pressing concern in criminal justice reform; during the [Coronavirus] pandemic, it is a matter of life and death.” “It’s clear that we are a deeply punitive country, but it’s time to delve into the morality of severely penalizing violence,” Pfaff asserted. “Race and poverty inevitably play huge roles,” he stated. Privileged Victim? Pfaff labeled those who oppose ending bail and other reform measures as speaking for well-off Americans when discussing the threat to citizen safety: “But the ‘us’ the critics really speak for are mostly those who live in relatively wealthy, safe areas. For them, bail reform, expanded parole or any other significant shift in how we handle criminal justice seems as if it could (slightly) increase the (already small) chance of their being victimized, with no real direct upside, since the people being needlessly stopped, detained, jailed, charged, tried, convicted and imprisoned — and suffering all the harms those interactions create — are not their family members, not their friends, not their co-workers and not even their neighbors. Why, the thinking goes, should ‘we’ expose ourselves to risks that have no upside for ‘us’?” Thus we have the spectacle of a cozily ensconced university professor declaring from his lofty perch that Americans concerned about letting criminals run wild are the pampered privileged who callously refuse to consider the plight of the lower classes. Perhaps Pfaff should view the shocking video of Joshua James King pummeling a much smaller Andrea Puerta on the Miami Metromover transit line. It is unlikely that Puerta was riding the city rails because her Rolls Royce had broken down. She seems very much to represent one of the “communities of color” that Pfaff claims are unfairly targeted by high-priced bail. According to Local 10 News in Miami, “King, 25, punched Puerta, 29, more than 20 times during the Sept. 4 attack. He kicked, pushed, and slammed her headfirst. She suffered a concussion.” “I remember that I closed my hands and I said, ‘STOP! STOP! He did not stop,” Puerta told the news outlet. “There was a moment when he said, ‘Sorry’ and I looked at him and he punched me and after that, I don’t know what happened.” “I don’t know how I am alive,” she concluded. King proceeded to allegedly attack two other men on the rail service before being apprehended. Charged with three counts of aggravated battery charges, he was incomprehensibly released on a $1,500 bond six days later. The major problem here is easy to spot. The loudest voices calling for an end to “mass incarceration” are the same ones who see everything in the blinding prism of race. No one denies that reasonable arguments can be made to avoid locking up specific non-violent individuals based on certain alleged lower-level crimes. But when it comes to identity politics as practiced by the left, sweeping action must always be applied. Simply looking at what a perpetrator has allegedly done and then making appropriate and responsible judgments about the threat he poses to the general public cannot be allowed when we are all infected by our “systemic racism” and “innate privilege.” It all makes for easy sloganeering until the train rolls off the track. ~ Read more from Joe Schaeffer.

The Stage Has Been Set For The Most Chaotic Election In U.S. History

This article was originally published by Michael Snyder at The Economic Collapse Blog.  If you are deeply concerned about what is going to happen in November, you are definitely not alone.  Experts on both sides of the political spectrum have been warning that it is very likely that we will not know the winner of the presidential election until well after November 3rd, and everyone pretty much agrees that the period of uncertainly that we will be forced to endure will not be good for our nation. Those of us that are old enough clearly remember the pain that the election of 2000 caused.  The outcome hinged on the results from the state of Florida, and the endless recounts were finally brought to a conclusion after 36 very stressful days with George W. Bush up by just 537 votes.  Unfortunately, some are saying that we are potentially facing “the 2000 election on steroids” because vote counting will be going on in multiple swing states long after election night is over. The big reason why this election is going to be so different from previous elections is because so many Americans are going to be voting by mail.  According to one recent survey, a whopping 37 percent of all voters plan to cast their votes by mail this time around… Thirty-seven percent of registered voters said they are likely to vote by mail in the November election, by receiving a mailed ballot and either mailing it back or returning it in person, according to a new survey released Tuesday by the Democracy Fund + UCLA Nationscape project. Other estimates put the number as high as 40 percent, and it could go even higher than that because some states are promoting mail-in voting extremely aggressively. In fact, as I detailed yesterday, one of my readers told me that he and his wife “have received three requests each for mail-in ballots” over the past five weeks. We are also being told that Democrats are far more likely to vote by mail than Republicans are.  According to the same survey that I quoted above, supporters of Biden are more than twice as likely to vote by mail than Trump supporters are… Among them, 48% of voters who plan to vote for Democratic presumptive nominee Joe Biden said they are likely to vote by mail, according to the survey. That’s more than twice the 23% of voters backing President Donald Trump who said they are likely to vote by mail. It takes a lot of time to open and count ballots that have been mailed in.  If that work could be done in advance, that wouldn’t be that much of a problem. Unfortunately, there are 14 states where it is prohibited by law to count mail-in ballots before Election Day, and that includes some of our most important swing states… Tens of millions of Americans will try to vote by mail because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But officials in 14 states are prohibited from processing mail-in ballots until Election Day; counting them could take days or weeks. Those states include Pennsylvania and Michigan, battlegrounds that could decide the election. It should deeply alarm all of us to hear that it “could take days or weeks” for some of these states to finally count every single ballot. And that is just the first count.  I am not even talking about any potential recounts. At this point, many Democrats are warning of a possible “red mirage” on the night of the election.  Many of them believe that it will look like President Trump is winning on election night, but that Joe Biden will ultimately win once all of the mail-in votes are finally counted. As evidence, they point to the fact that there has been a “blue shift” in all national elections going back to 2004… Since 2004, mail-in ballots have been disproportionately Democratic, a phenomenon known as the “blue shift.” So, barring a landslide, we could see a “red mirage” on Nov. 3, an election-night count of in-person votes that suggests that Trump has won — even though millions of votes for Biden are waiting to be tabulated. Personally, I do believe that it is very likely that President Trump will be leading on the night of the election, but what is really going to matter is what happens during the days that follow. If a Trump lead evaporates and Biden is eventually declared the winner, there will be widespread allegations that the election was stolen, and that could cause tremendous explosions of anger. And the big tech companies are already preparing for post-election chaos.  In fact, Facebook has openly announced that they will purposely “restrict the circulation of content” in order to try to control civil unrest… Facebook announced this week that it may restrict certain aspects of its platform following November’s general election as part of a larger effort to limit social unrest. A spokesperson for Facebook suggested that executives including Sheryl Sandberg and Mark Zuckerberg may censor specific information if they believe it is likely to heighten political tensions following the election. According to a report by the Financial Times, Facebook announced this week that it will “restrict the circulation of content” following November’s election to curb violence and social unrest. The announcement follows efforts by Facebook to address concerns from those who have alleged that the platform aids in voter suppression and promotes election-misinformation. What is this country going to look like if it takes weeks or even months to officially declare a winner? No matter who ends up winning, I believe that the process is so flawed that it is going to tear the country apart. And no matter what the final result is, a large percentage of the population will never accept the outcome as being legitimate. This is already one of the most difficult chapters in U.S. history, and a bitterly contested election result will only make things even worse. At this point, even the mainstream media is admitting that we are heading into “wild” times.  The following comes from CNN… Ask anyone about the next six weeks and they will likely give you some version of this as a response: Whoa boy. It is going to be wild. Which it is! The last 42 days of a presidential election are always filled with unpredictable storylines, big moments and, more than anything, uncertainty. Just about the only way that we can avoid the type of scenario that I have described is if there is an overwhelming landslide on election night. Wouldn’t that be nice if that actually happened? It would be wonderful if one of the candidates conceded on November 3rd or November 4th and we could avoid weeks or even months of endless national strife, but I don’t think that is going to happen. Instead, I believe that both sides are going to fight to the bitter end, and the end will definitely be very bitter indeed. ***Michael’s new book entitled “Lost Prophecies Of The Future Of America” is now available in paperback and for the Kindle on Amazon.com.*** About the Author: My name is Michael Snyder and my brand new book entitled “Lost Prophecies Of The Future Of America” is now available on Amazon.com.  By purchasing the book you help to support the work that my wife and I are doing, and by giving it to others you help to multiply the impact that we are having on people all over the globe.  I have published thousands of articles on The Economic Collapse Blog, End Of The American Dream, and The Most Important News, and the articles that I publish on those sites are republished on dozens of other prominent websites all over the globe.  I always freely and happily allow others to republish my articles on their own websites, but I also ask that they include this “About the Author” section with each article.  In addition to my new book, I have written four others that are available on Amazon.com including The Beginning Of The End, Get Prepared Now, and Living A Life That Really Matters. New Events: Political Violence Is Likely BEFORE The Election

Mac SlavoSeptember 21st, 2020SHTFplan.com With the death of Supreme Court justice and liberal hero, Ruth Bader Ginsburg comes the possibility of election violence beginning early. Brace for a reaction, as President Donald Trump has insisted on filling Ginsburg’s seat while the left threatens to “burn it down” if he does. The division is too immense to break through at this point.  Far too many are firmly rooted in the left vs. right paradigm lie and it’s going to manifest unless we open our eyes. Unless a lot of people realize what’s going on and realize how divided we’ve allowed ourselves to become, this political violence could escalate to devastating explosive events. Almost immediately after the news of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death, some verified Twitter users threatened arson and apparent violence in order to block Senate Republicans from replacing her before the elections. “If they even TRY to replace RBG we burn the entire f—–g thing down,” author Reza Aslan tweeted, according to Fox News. If they even TRY to replace RBG we burn the entire fucking thing down. — Reza Aslan (@rezaaslan) September 19, 2020 He later responded to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s vow to hold a vote on President Trump’s nominee. “Over our dead bodies, literally,” he tweeted. Author Aaron Gouveia similarly blasted McConnell’s statement, saying: “F–k no. Burn it all down.” Ginsburg’s death seems to have only ramped up the rhetoric and forced the divide between the left and the right further apart. Fuck no. Burn it all down. https://t.co/hsjqeVLgBn — Aaron's Book Is Now Available! (@DaddyFiles) September 19, 2020 Please be prepared, because neither side will be backing down. We could very well experience massive violence even before the already promised election violence. This is not meant to be anything other than a warning.  If you take this as fear-mongering, I suggest you harness that fear and brace yourself while continuing to prepare. Be able to protect yourself and your family especially if you live in or near a big city. The mainstream media is telegraphing that this violence is coming. It seems to be pushed forward in time, though, because of the death of Ginsburg. President Trump is Breaking Down the Neck of the Federal Reserve! He wants zero rates and QE4! After a gunman opened fire on two Los Angeles County deputies Saturday night, protesters gathered to express hate for the police outside the hospital where the two “ambushed” officers still lie with life-threatening injuries. Police say they had to clear the protesters from blocking ambulances from bringing sick people into the hospital.
