The Gales Creek fault is a new dangerous earthquake threat for Portland, Oregon … And there may be many more underground

Portland lies near the Cascadia Subduction zone, where the Juan de Fuca plate is diving beneath the North American plate. The Gales Creek fault, which is a forearc fault between the spot where the plates meet and a chain of volcanoes that links it to the subduction zone, could rupture with a major earthquake, the new study finds. Map via USGS A fault near Portland, Oregon, has the capacity to cause strong shaking in the region — and has done so as recently as 1,000 years ago. New research into the Gales Creek fault, which lies 22 miles (35 kilometers) west of Portland, reveals that earthquakes on the fault have ruptured the surface three times in the last 9,000 years. Today, the fault is capable of producing an earthquake of up to magnitude 7.1 to 7.4, which would create very strong shaking and damage property and potentially threaten lives in the Portland metro region.  Rare big quakes Fortunately, big quakes on the fault are rare, researchers reported Oct. 20 and recur every 4,000 years or so, as a rough average, and there is no evidence that the fault is currently at high risk of rupture. However, the new findings suggest the need to study other nearby faults for signs of relatively recent earthquakes. These investigations could reveal more about the dangers these faults pose to Portland and other populated areas in Oregon. “Many faults in the region are of interest based on their proximity to population centers,” said Alison Horst, a paleoseismologist formerly at Portland State University and now at the Washington State Department of Resources.  Gales Creek Portland is in the Cascadia Subduction Zone, the region of the Pacific Northwest where the Juan de Fuca tectonic plate is diving beneath the North American plate. This subduction of the plates gives rise to earthquakes and volcanic activity.  Gales Creek is considered a forearc fault, which means it is located in the region between the spot where the plates meet and the volcanic chain link to the subduction zone. It runs 45 miles (73 km) in a  northwesterly direction in a lush, forested area of the Coast Range mountains north of the Willamette River. The vegetation makes it difficult to see evidence of past earthquakes on the fault, such as the cliff-like scarps that form when Earth’s crust breaks. However, mapping efforts using a technology called lidar (light detection and ranging) suggested that the fault showed the fingerprints of past quakes. For example, the paths of some streams along the fault were offset, as if they’d been suddenly shifted to one side.  Ancient earthquakes on the Gales Creek Fault To trace the history of the Gales Creek fault, Horst and her colleagues dug a set of trenches up to 4.9 feet (1.5 meters) deep, using shovels and a backhoe. Within these trenches, they could see layers of sediment deposited over many thousands of years, including streaks of dark, charcoal-rich soil left behind by long-ago floods. Broken parts of these layers showed evidence of past earthquakes. Because the charcoal is organic material, the researchers could use radiocarbon dating, which relies on the decay rate of radioactive forms of carbon, to pinpoint when the layers had been put down.  This geological history showed three earthquakes large enough to disturb the Earth’s surface on the fault. The oldest dated back about 8,800 years ago, the next 4,200 years ago, and the most recent approximately 1,000 years ago. This averaged out to a significant earthquake approximately every 4,000 years on the Gales Creek fault.  Given the length of the fault, the researchers calculated that if the entire Gales Creek fault were to slip today, it could create an earthquake of between magnitude 7.1 and magnitude 7.4, depending on the depth of the earthquake’s origin. The actual risk of the entire fault rupturing in the near future is unknown, though. The most recent earthquake along a similar fault in the region was a magnitude-5.7 quake in March 1993 just south of Portland, which caused $30 million in damage, the authors wrote.  The next step is to study other faults in the regions for signs of ancient earthquakes. Learning when other faults cracked could reveal connections between faults, which would further clarify the earthquake hazards around Portland.  [embedded content] This article about the dangerous Gales Creek Fault near Portland was originally published on Live Science. Lax Online Security Appears to Allow Cancelling Other Voters’ Mail-in Ballots in Some States

Election security in some states is so lax that people can spy on other people’s mail-in ballot process and possibly even cancel their ballots with only basic personal information easily obtained online. The online voter portal for Washington State only requires the name and date of birth of a voter for a login. Dates of birth are a matter of public record for many people, either through social media, government and court documents, or Wikipedia pages, not to mention millions of hacked personal records available for sale on the darkweb. Upon login, a person can view the voter’s registration information and other details, including the registered address and ballot status. The portal also allows voters to request a new ballot, which the person can fill out online, print out, and mail to the election authorities to vote. The ballot package needs to be signed and the signature would be matched by the authorities to the one they have on record. However, the page warns that “if you continue, a ballot previously mailed to you will be cancelled,” suggesting that somebody can log in and cancel another person’s ballot by requesting a new one. Washington State voter portal page allowing a voter to request a new ballot online on a computer in Washington State on Oct. 18, 2020. (The Epoch Times) The Epoch Times contacted a Washington voter who then went through the process for his own ballot, which he recently received in the mail. He verified that the name and date of birth is all it takes to request a new ballot and thus invalidate the current one. The office of the Washington secretary of state didn’t respond to a request for comment. A similar issue appears to apply to Oregon, where the voter portal also only requires a name and date of birth for a login. The portal allows the voter to fill out the ballot online, print it, and submit it to election authorities, an Oregon voter contacted by The Epoch Times confirmed. The page says the option is only available to military, overseas, or disabled voters, but there doesn’t seem to be any verification that would prevent other voters from using it and thus potentially invalidate any other ballot they were previously issued. Screenshot of the Multnomah County, Ore., ballot filled out online in Oregon on Oct. 18, 2020. (The Epoch Times) The office of the Oregon secretary of state didn’t respond to a request for comment. The Oregon voter portal appeared to be shut down for maintenance on Oct. 18 for several hours. Underscoring the potency of the vulnerability, in November 2019, a laptop belonging to a medical contractor that had the personal information of more than 650,000 Oregon residents was stolen. The data included names, social security numbers, as well as “phone numbers, dates of birth and Medicaid ID numbers,” The Oregonian reported. Both Washington and Oregon hold all-mail elections, meaning ballots are automatically mailed to all registered voters before every election. The problem with the online voter portals was first spotted by users of anonymous discussion board “Politically Incorrect” on 4chan.org. The board is known for robust open-source research as well as online pranks and offensive posts. Screenshots posted to the board around Oct. 18 indicated some users took advantage of the vulnerability to log in as Oregon Gov. Ted Wheeler, Oregon Secretary of State Bev Clarno, and others. It’s not clear whether the users went through the whole process of printing new ballots for the officials. The main posts on the board on the subject urged users not to commit voter fraud, but only showcase the vulnerability to publicly expose it. It’s not clear if other states suffer from the same vulnerability. The Offices of secretaries of state from several other states, including California, Ohio, Texas, Alaska, Florida, and Pennsylvania, didn’t respond to requests for comment. Mail Voting Concerns While Oregon and Washington have conducted all-mail elections for years, some states, such as Nevada and California, are sending ballots to all voters this year for the first time with only several months of preparation. This has sparked concerns over whether the infrastructure in such states is prepared to handle the deluge of mail-in ballots. On top of that, voter rolls are notoriously messy and often include the names of people who’ve moved to different addresses, out of the state, or have passed away. That means the ballots can end up with people not eligible to vote.

The Portland Protest Shooter's Death Looks More and More Like Excessive Force—but Trump Keeps Bragging About It

Execution squad? The more that comes out about the federal task force killing of Portland murder suspect Michael Forest Reinoehl, the worse his death looks. The president isn't helping. "We sent in the U.S. Marshals. Took 15 minutes, it was over. Fifteen minutes, it was over—we got him," Donald Trump told a crowd in North Carolina on Thursday. "They knew who he was. They didn't want to arrest him, and 15 minutes—that ended." A benefit-of-the-doubt reading here would be that Trump's "they" who "didn't want to arrest" was a reference to the Portland police—who hadn't yet arrested Reinoehl by the time the task force intervened—and not an admission that agents didn't want to take Reinoehl in alive (as some have been reading it). But either way, the end of the mission is nothing to be bragging about. By many accounts, the officers didn't even attempt to arrest Reinoehl peacefully. Investigators said this week that Reinoehl—pursued for fatally shooting Aaron "Jay" Danielson during a confrontation at an August 29 protest in Portland—had a loaded handgun when local law enforcement serving on the U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force killed him on September 3. But the gun was still in Reinoehl's front pants pocket as police fired more than 30 bullets at him. "The new information follows initial reports from investigators [that] the federal fugitive task force involved in shooting Reinoehl gave conflicting statements," reports ABC News. One member of the task force claimed that Reinoehl pointed a gun at them. Another said that didn't happen, but Reinoehl was reaching for a gun when they shot him. A U.S. Marshal's Office press release claimed Reinoehl "produced a firearm, threatening the lives of law enforcement officers." This week, Thurston County Sheriff's Lt. Ray Brady said that Reinoehl's hand may have been on a gun or may have been merely "near" the gun. At a Tuesday press conference, investigators said they still do not know if the gun in Reinoehl's pocket on the night of his death was the same gun used to kill Danielson a few nights prior. Almost two dozen witnesses to Reinoehl's subsequent death say task force members never identified themselves or warned Reinoehl before opening fire on him, though Sheriff Brady disputed this on Tuesday. Nathaniel Dingess, who lived nearby, told The Oregonian in September that he "saw Reinoehl walk toward his car holding a cellphone in his hand when two unmarked law enforcement vehicles converged outside the complex [and] began firing at Reinoehl." After initially shooting, they told Reinoehl to halt and then resumed shooting, Dingess said, adding that he never saw Reinoehl reach for a gun. The New York Times talked with 22 people who had been nearby when Reinoehl was killed, and only one recalled the task force members saying anything before they starting shooting: Mr. Louis…some 140 feet from Mr. Reinoehl, also said the police opened fire immediately, without giving any warnings—as did Mr. Smith and Mr. Cutler. "There was no, 'Get out of the car!' There was no, 'Stop!' There was no nothing. They just got out of the car and started shooting," Mr. Louis said. Mr. Smith described it similarly: "There was no yelling. There was no screaming. There was no altercation. It was just straight to gunshots." Of the five eyewitnesses, none saw Reinoehl holding or reaching for a gun. Despite the questions surrounding the officers conduct, Trump has repeatedly bragged about this operation—and even described it as "retribution." On a night originally slated for a debate between Trump and Biden, the Republican and Democratic nominees instead squared off in dueling TV interviews. During Biden's time taking questions in Philadelphia from ABC host George Stephanopoulos, Biden said police should shoot people in the leg as a deescalation tactic (this is a bad idea); asked if he supports court packing, he said he was "open to considering what happens" after the Amy Coney Barrett confirmation process. "We shouldn't be defunding cops," Biden says, suggesting instead that there be more mandates and training for police officers. Including, I guess, telling them to shoot people in the leg? — Eric Boehm (@EricBoehm87) October 16, 2020 On NBC, Trump spread major misinformation about masks, claiming erroneously that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said "that 85 percent of the people wearing masks catch" COVID-19. He also evaded questions about his taxes, whether he took a coronavirus test before the first debate, and more. And he claimed (once again) that he has "done more for the African-American community than any president with the exception of Abraham Lincoln." Trump, once again, is saying he has a plan to replace Obamacare, then explaining that he…got rid of Obamacare's individual mandate. Which is neither repeal nor replace. It's like promising to do the dishes, then when the dishes aren't done saying, I cleaned a fork. — Peter Suderman (@petersuderman) October 16, 2020 Meanwhile, libertarian presidential nominee Jo Jorgensen talked with Reason's Matt Welch. Watch that here. FREE MINDS Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chair Ajit Pai announced yesterday that he will accept the Trump administration's request to "interpret" Section 230. While Pai's announcement isn't necessarily bad news, it's not a good sign that he announced the effort in a statement misrepresenting the law as a special protection for tech companies—a popular bit of ant-230 propaganda that simply is not true. Ironically, @AjitPaiFCC is adding to the confusion by misstating the law. Section 230 does NOT convey "a special immunity denied to other media outlets, such as newspapers and broadcasters." It applies all the same to social media companies, newspapers, broadcasters, you, and me. https://t.co/PqmEeHn7Sv — Justin Amash (@justinamash) October 15, 2020 Prominent Republicans pushed several misconceptions about Section 230 yesterday, as hysteria about it reaches a fever pitch among extremely online conservatives. The most prominent of these is the idea "publisher" and "platform" are legal categories which websites must stay on one side or the other of. Every time someone writes this, translate it as "I am completely ignorant of Internet law." Not because they're "really" platforms, but because the categories are wrong. The law doesn't classify companies as "publisher" or "platform." https://t.co/XG2qm35xvK — Julian Sanchez (@normative) October 15, 2020 (For good primers on Section 230 myths, see this Reason TV video and this Techdirt post.) FREE MARKETS Bill Gates questions antitrust investigation. Microsoft founder Bill Gates spoke out against the congressional strategy of tackling tech companies' potential antitrust violations as a group, rather than on a company-by-company basis. "I think it's kind of unfortunate that they're grouping the companies together, because there are so many different issues," Gates said at the GeekWire Summit. Antitrust enforcers famously targeted Microsoft in the 1990s. "If they want to get serious, they're going to have to focus in, enumerate the issues and them debate them. So I'd say we're kind of at the beginning," he continued. Gates thinks we should be having more conversation about how tech practices affect consumers and "a little less about demonizing the specific people involved." Gates also commended today's tech CEOs for their ability to play nice with politicians and regulators: I think the main mistake I made, which was not realizing how important it would be to develop relationships in Washington, be engaged there—these companies are not making the same mistake that I made. They have lots of people. Jeff even has a nice house in Washington, DC. They may even be making some other mistakes. But everybody saw what I did and knows better now. If their recent treatment is what it looks like when they suck up to D.C. power, I shudder to think what things would look like otherwise. Sarah Iannarone’s answer to Antifa question tells us Portland is doomed

For decades, Portland was considered to be one of the most impressive cities on the west coast. It was safe, vibrant, and productive. But in recent years, it has turned “woke,” not only culturally but also politically. The results have been disastrous and they’re on the verge of stepping even further to the left. Mayor Ted Wheeler has been a complete disaster because of his radical leftist policies. But his opponent, Sarah Iannarone, is even more radical than he is, if that’s even possible. She is known as the “Antifa candidate” for mayor and right now she’s leading in the polls. It would seem that the domestic terrorism that has engulfed the city for over four months has been embraced by most of the residents. To get an idea of Iannarone’s ideology, listen to her response about Antifa. At tonight's Portland mayoral debate, Sarah Iannarone, who is polling ahead of @tedwheeler, is asked about her support for antifa. There are millions of dollars out there! Californian growers terrified about wildfires destroying their pot plants

California wildfires threatens pot farms. Picture: NY Post Smoking weed is the newest worry for California firefighters as the state’s biggest wildfire races toward the nation’s biggest marijuana-producing region. The wildfire is headed for Post Mountain and Trinity Pines, two small communities northwest of Sacramento that lie in the heart of cannabis country. And many of the locals — up to 1,000 — are refusing to evacuate because they want to protect their pot. Law enforcement officials went knocking on doors, but can’t make anybody go, Trinity County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Nate Trujillo told the AP. “It’s mainly growers,” Trujillo said. “And a lot of them, they don’t want to leave because that is their livelihood.” Trinity Pines alone has as many as 40 legal farms and 10 times more in illegal patches, sources told the outlet. Each farm’s crops are worth $500,000 or more — and harvest time is only days or weeks away. “There [are] millions of dollars, millions and millions of dollars of marijuana out there,” the sheriff said. “Some of those plants are 16 feet tall, and they are all in the budding stages of growth right now.” All across the state, the dry, sizzling weather threatens to ignite more wildfires — and make the job of fatigued firefighters just that much tougher. Oregon Republican Lawmakers React to Arrest of Dem House Speaker’s Aide in Portland Riots

A photojournalist reacts as riot police fire tear gas in Portland, Ore., September 5, 2020. (Carlos Barria/Reuters)Republicans in the Oregon legislature are accusing Democrats of sanctioning “lawlessness” after the arrest of a top aide to the Democratic Oregon House speaker this month during protests that devolved into riots in downtown Portland. Kristina Narayan, who serves as legislative director for Oregon House Speaker Representative Tina Kotek, was arrested late at night on Saturday, September 5 and charged with interfering with a police officer after Portland Police declared a riot. Advertisement “Kristina Narayan was arrested for Interfering with a Police Officer after the event became a riot and the crowd was given multiple orders to disperse, which she did not do,” a Portland police department spokesperson said. Narayan, 29, has worked for Kotek since September, 2016 and has served as the House speaker’s legislative director since May, 2018, according to her LinkedIn profile. Republican state lawmakers in Oregon criticized their colleagues across the aisle for declining to denounce the ongoing nightly violence wracking Portland, and accused Democratic lawmakers of protecting their staffers and supporters who participate in the riots. Advertisement “The Democrat supermajority in Oregon have had instances where their publicly-employed staff have been involved in the violent riots and looting in downtown Portland,” said GOP state Senator Dennis Linthicum, who represents the southeast city of Klamath Falls. “Knowing this, it becomes obvious why Democrats in Oregon and across the nation have not stood up for law enforcement and condemned the lawlessness in the streets because within these Democrat-controlled cities — they would be alienating their own staff members who are participating in the riots,” Linthicum said. Advertisement Republican Oregon Senator Alan Olsen agreed, adding that Democratic lawmakers in the state “despise” the very police protecting them. “Oregon Democrats are the party of lawlessness because instead of denouncing the violence, they largely have remained silent. The top Democrat leaders are protected by the police but despise and have absolute animosity towards them,” said Olsen, who represents Canby, a city just south of Portland. “It’s obvious that Oregon Democrats are protecting their own extremist staffers and supporters over innocent Oregonians who are the collateral damage of over 100 days of violence,” Olsen added. Advertisement Narayan’s arrest came a week after pro-Trump demonstrator Aaron Danielson was fatally shot in the chest during clashes between Black Lives Matter protesters and a caravan of pro-Trump demonstrators who drove through the streets of downtown Portland. Two days later, Portland Police declared a riot after about 200 demonstrators marched to Mayor Ted Wheeler’s residence to demand that he resign as violent demonstrations continue to rock the city. Kotek’s office did not respond to a request for comment. Send a tip to the news team at NR.

11 Facts That Prove That The Apocalyptic Wildfires On The West Coast Are Unlike Anything We Have Ever Seen Before

At this hour, a thick blanket of smoke from the horrific wildfires in California, Oregon and Washington is covering much of the western portion of the country.  U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon has used the word “apocalyptic” to describe the utter devastation that has been caused by these fires, and that is not an exaggeration whatsoever.  There are some small towns that have literally been wiped off the face of the map during the past week, and some of them may never be rebuilt.  This has already been a wildfire season like no other along the west coast, and we are just now entering the heart of the 2020 fire season.  It is very difficult to imagine another couple months of this, but that is potentially what we are facing.   By the time that it is over, nobody living on the west coast will ever forget the chaos that this wildfire season has caused.  Some of the largest fires have been burning for weeks, and all of the smoke is having a dramatic impact on large cities such as San Francisco… The cityscape resembles the surface of a distant planet, populated by a masked alien culture. The air, choked with blown ash, is difficult to breathe. There is the Golden Gate Bridge, looming in the distance through a drift-smoke haze, and the Salesforce Tower, which against the blood-orange sky appears as a colossal spaceship in a doomsday film. San Francisco, and much of California, has never been like this. Yes, every year there are wildfires, but what we are watching this year is on an entirely different level.  The following are 11 facts that prove the apocalyptic wildfires in California, Oregon and Washington and unlike anything we have seen before… #1 According to the National Interagency Fire Center, more than 30,000 firefighters are currently contending with 94 large fires that have burned more than 4.6 million acres in 12 western states. #2 40 of those large fires have prompted evacuation orders, and many have been forced to flee “with just the clothes on their backs” because the fires have moved so rapidly. #3 The August Complex Fire has already officially become the largest wildfire in the history of the state of California, and at this hour it continues to rage out of control. #4 Five of the ten largest wildfires in California history have happened in 2020. #5 In Oregon, 40,000 people have already been evacuated, and hundreds of thousands more have been told to prepare to potentially evacuate. #6 On Saturday, the air quality index reading in Salem, Oregon was 512.  That measurement was “off the charts”, because the scale only goes up to 500. #7 Prior to 2020, we had only witnessed a few “fire tornadoes” in all of U.S. history, but now they are occurring “every week or two”. #8 According to the Washington Post, some wildfire plumes have risen “up to 10 miles high”, and that is definitely extremely unusual. #9 About a week after a fire tornado hit the Huntington Lake area, some fires are still burning root systems underground “at more than 1,500 degrees”… A week later, Donnelly said Saturday that the Creek Fire continues to burn in the area, with some fires occurring underground and attacking the root system of trees at more than 1,500 degrees. “Fire inspectors from the office of the State Fire Marshall stated that fire behavior in the Kennolyn area is the worst they had witnessed in their career,” Donnelly wrote in a post that was shared on social media, timestamped as 11 a.m. Saturday. “Unfortunately, it will be some time before it is safe to enter the burned areas.” #10 Even though we still have quite a bit of time to go, this has already been the worst wildfire season in California’s history and the second worst wildfire season in Washington’s history. #11 Sadly, the fire season still has another four months remaining, and there are at least seven weeks left in “prime fire season”. Of course the list above simply cannot express the incredible amount of pain and suffering that these fires have caused for so many people. When a reporter followed Betty Stevens of Phoenix, Oregon back to the spot where her home once stood, what they discovered was too horrible for words… Betty Stevens stumbled down the street that had until a few hours ago seemed so familiar, her feet crunching through ash and debris as she entered the smoking remains of her neighborhood. There were melted street signs. Trees burned down to stumps. Power lines across the road. And everywhere she turned, choking, acrid smoke. Sobbing behind the face mask she normally wears for her job as a hospital respiratory therapist helping coronavirus patients, Stevens, 31, video recorded herself earlier this week as she stumbled through the neighborhood, raw emotion in her voice, sometimes unable to form words, moaning in obvious pain. Could you imagine losing your home and everything inside of it? Over the next several weeks, fires will continue to sweep across our western states and many more homes and buildings will likely be lost. For many, it will be the final straw.  As I have discussed previously, large numbers of people have already moved away from the west coast, and there are others that are seriously considering doing so… Monica Gupta Mehta and her husband, an entrepreneur, have been through tech busts and booms, earthquakes, wildfire seasons and power outages. But it was not until the skies darkened and cast an unsettling orange light on their Palo Alto home earlier this week that they ever considered moving their family of five somewhere else. “For the first time in 20-something years, the thought crossed our minds: Do we really want to live here?” said Mehta, who is starting an education tech company. As a very small child, I spent several years on the west coast, and I will always have a great fondness for how it was in the old days.  But if you have read my new book, you already know how I feel about the west coast’s future. There are very few areas on the entire globe that have been blessed with more natural beauty than the west coast of the United States.  Unfortunately, natural beauty is not everything. Here in 2020, it has just been one thing after another, and the west coast has been hit harder than just about anywhere else. Many are hoping that better times are ahead in 2021, but I definitely would not be counting on that. ***Michael’s new book entitled “Lost Prophecies Of The Future Of America” is now available in paperback and for the Kindle on Amazon.com.*** About the Author: My name is Michael Snyder and my brand new book entitled “Lost Prophecies Of The Future Of America” is now available on Amazon.com.  By purchasing the book you help to support the work that my wife and I are doing, and by giving it to others you help to multiply the impact that we are having on people all over the globe.  I have published thousands of articles on The Economic Collapse Blog, End Of The American Dream and The Most Important News, and the articles that I publish on those sites are republished on dozens of other prominent websites all over the globe.  I always freely and happily allow others to republish my articles on their own websites, but I also ask that they include this “About the Author” section with each article.  In addition to my new book, I have written four others that are available on Amazon.com including The Beginning Of The End, Get Prepared Now, and Living A Life That Really Matters. That’s How It’s Done! Oregon State Troopers Deputized by DOJ To Enable Federal Arrests

This story has a number of moving parts so we are going to do our best to recap things. Since George Floyd’s death, Portland has been protesting for the past 95 days. 25 of these protests were declared riots. Mayor Ted Wheeler was allowing it all to happen initially but now he is getting more upset about the violence. In recent days, he has been more willing to condemn the rioters. The mob was not about to tolerate that and Wheeler’s home was targeted as a result. The mayor has experienced all sorts of issues since his declarations, including vandalism and arson. Now, the mayor is being forced to move for his own safety. When a Trump supporter was murdered by a member of Antifa over the weekend, the governor of Oregon had finally had enough. In order to stop the violence, the governor asked police officers in nearby suburbs to help out. The sheriffs in these locations were not going for it and they turned him down. They cited the current lack of support for police officers. The county’s new District Attorney, Mike Schmidt, also played a key role. He has said that he will not be pursuing any charges against protesters unless they are involved in acts of arson or assault. If you are resisting arrest or anything of that nature, you are immediately released. No wonder these officers weren’t exactly raring to help. That brings us to the present day. The federal police have since left Portland and the local officers in the area have been asked to help. State Troopers are now being given the chance to assist the federal officers who are trying to gain control of the city. The county DA has made his position known but thanks to this measure, his words may not matter. The State Troopers have deputized by the feds, which means that they can file federal charges and bypass any edicts that have been issued by the more progressive District Attorney. Protesters who are arrested could be affected by the cross deputization. Dakota K. Means, a BLM rioter in Portland, is one of dozens federally charged for assaulting, impeding & intimidating a federal employee near the courthouse w/a paintball gun. He threatened to use an "AR" next. He was also filmed next to the accused bomber https://t.co/LUHBAOD4R3 pic.twitter.com/lRClPmfG8n — Andy Ngô (@MrAndyNgo) September 2, 2020 The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office might be bypassed entirely, if these officers have their way. KGW reporter Pat Dooris also believes that these changes could be significant to those who are continuing to riot in Portland. If we were protesting in this city, we would be listening to the following words very carefully. “This is basically the ground changing under the feet of the protesters. because when the state police come in and are cross-deputized by the [U.S. Marshals], they’re able to make arrests under the federal law. And I’m told there is something similar to interfering with a police officer under the federal law. [Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt] will not prosecute someone for that charge, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office has been much more aggressive at holding people accountable and prosecuting for all kinds of charges. So, I think you’re going to see a lot more of that start to happen as soon as these officers arrive,” said Dooris. [embedded content] The Oregon State Police are doing their best to let the District Attorney know that they are not going to be stepping on his toes. “OSP is not criticizing any officials and we respect the authority of the [Multnomah County] District Attorney, but to meet the Governor’s charge of bringing violence to an end we will use all lawful methods at our disposal,” read a statement from one of their spokespeople. The rioters have not been discouraged yet but hopefully, it is only a matter of time at this point. Those who are causing chaos on a nightly basis will need to seriously reconsider their actions. Otherwise, they might not be treated with the same kid gloves that the district attorney has promised. It’s definitely food for thought, for both the protesters and the citizens of this city who are being affected on an everyday basis. Canceling Netflix over ‘Cuties’ is the most important battle in the culture war today

This is the culture war. It’s right in front of our faces. The movie “Cuties” now playing on Netflix is nothing short of pedophile-fodder that is being used, literally as you read this, by some sicko for his pleasure. That’s how perverse many scenes in this movie are. #CancelNetflix was trending yesterday as many concerned Americans called for financial punishment against the entertainment company. On the latest episode of NOQ Report, we did what we said we were going to do. We canceled live on the air. We strongly encourage everyone who reads this article, watches the video, or hears the podcast to do the same. Hashtags aren’t enough. Righteous indignation won’t cut it this time. We have to act, and that means Netflix getting cancellation notices from the masses. If they are not severely hurt by their decision to air this filth, we have lost the battle in the culture war. It’s that simple. The pain must be tangible and enduring. Otherwise, we’re just doing it to feel good about ourselves. Meanwhile, cultural Marxism will continue to spread. It will continue to win. Three major peace deals makes this 9/11 a celebration of what America can accomplish The second segment can be summed up with this Tweet: In 19 years I have never politicized #September11. This year, it's important to note in the last month, this administration has brought the Israel-UAE peace deal, Serbia-Kosovo normalization (thank you @RichardGrenell) and now Pompeo is working on Afghanistan.#911Peace — JD Rucker (@JDRucker) September 11, 2020 Interview with Joy Villa Our Freedom First Network cohorts at Flockop had a great interview of singer Joy Villa that we had to put into our show. Multiple arson investigations ignored as media pushes climate change cause of west coast fires In the fourth segment, Tammy and I discussed the fact that arson has been blamed for at least some of the fires that are engulfing west coast states. Reuters reported one investigation into a major fire and AmGreatness reported an arrest of an Antifa arsonist. There is likely much more to the story than that. There are few things we’ve done this week more satisfying than cancelling our Netflix account live on the air. This war against Cultural Marxism has a target we can truly affect immediately. It’s incumbent on right-minded folks to take action. COVID-19 may take down an independent news outlet Nobody said running a media site would be easy. We could use some help keeping this site afloat. Colleagues have called me the worst fundraiser ever. My skills are squarely rooted on the journalistic side of running a news outlet. Paying the bills has never been my forte, but we’ve survived. We have ads on the site that help, but since the site’s inception this has been a labor of love that otherwise doesn’t bring in the level of revenue necessary to justify it. When I left a nice, corporate career in 2017, I did so knowing I wouldn’t make nearly as much money. But what we do at NOQ Report to deliver the truth and fight the progressive mainstream media narrative that has plagued this nation is too important for me to sacrifice it for the sake of wealth. We know we’ll never make a ton of money this way, and we’re okay with that. Things have become harder with the coronavirus lockdowns. Both ad money and donations that have kept us afloat for a while have dropped dramatically. We thought we could weather the storm, but the so-called “surge” or “2nd-wave” that mainstream media and Democrats are pushing has put our prospects in jeopardy. In short, we are now in desperate need of financial assistance. The best way NOQ Report readers can help is to donate. Our Giving Fuel page makes it easy to donate one-time or monthly. Alternatively, you can donate through PayPal as well. We need approximately $11,500 to stay afloat for the rest of 2020, but more would be wonderful and any amount that brings us closer to our goal is greatly appreciated. The second way to help is to become a partner. We’ve strongly considered seeking angel investors in the past but because we were paying the bills, it didn’t seem necessary. Now, we’re struggling to pay the bills. This shouldn’t be the case as our traffic the last year has been going up dramatically. June, 2018, we had 11,678 visitors. A year later in June, 2019, we were up to 116,194. In June, 2020, we had 614,192. We’re heading in the right direction and we believe we’re ready talk to patriotic investors who want to not only “get in on the action” but more importantly who want to help America hear the truth. Interested investors should contact me directly with the contact button above. Election year or not, coronavirus lockdowns or not, anarchic riots or not, the need for truthful journalism endures. But in these times, we need as many conservative media voices as possible. Please help keep NOQ Report going. Check out the NEW NOQ Report Podcast. American Conservative Movement Join fellow patriots as we form a grassroots movement to advance the cause of conservatism. The coronavirus crisis has prompted many, even some conservatives, to promote authoritarianism. It’s understandable to some extent now, but it must not be allowed to embed itself in American life. We currently have 8000+ patriots with us in a very short time. If you are interested, please join us to receive updates.
