Kuwait: Increase in number of COVID-19 tests Kuwait’s Ministry of Health has increased the number of COVID-19 tests, thus reducing the percentage of confirmed cases to the number of tests conducted. On Thursday, the percentage of confirmed cases to number of tests was at 13.7 per cent a decrease from the past week, where the average was around 16 per cent, one day reaching 20 per cent. The Ministry of Health announced that on Thursday there were 740 new cases, bringing the total confirmed cases to 92,822. As for the number of tests, 5,384 tests were conducted, one of the highest number of tests conducted since the beginning of the pandemic. The total number of tests comes to 663,135. In an effort to combat the spread of the virus, Kuwait has ramped up testing to reduce community spread. In addition, authorities are considering enforcing public wearing of masks and punishing violators up to three months in jail and a maximum fine of 5,000 Kuwait dinars.
