Scripture Memory Course

From Christianity 101

I've discovered verses to memorize from a variety of sources. As a child I memorized verses for Sunday School. Later, I learned verses from the highly prized Navigators' Topical Memory System. That course gave me my start into a lifetime of rewarding Scripture memory and application. Other verses were tattooed onto my heart by the Holy Spirit during times of pressure, from my devotional reading or when looking for answers.

Some verses are juicy, inspirational — WOW!

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. Collosians 3:16

Others are basic and foundational.

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Collosians 3:17

Some came from my life as a single adult; Some are old, others almost new. May I suggest for beginners that it is better to know around 100 key verses, reflecting a broad balance of Bible teaching, rather than memorize two or three entire Bible chapters.

Follow this recommended schedule below. I've included the Books of The Bible and some basic prayers in the first few months.

Review my article on Memorizing Scripture for a refresher. Ie- Say the Topic, then glue the reference to the first word of each verse. Review. Review. After memorizing the verse segments, meditate on each verse.

Week 4 - Daily Prayers

Not necessary to memorize, but these are some outlines of some good daily prayers you can add to your morning study as the Spirit moves you.

Further Study - Praying The Scriptures Daily

Monday

Praise

Rejoice in the Lord O Ye righteous; for praise is comely and upright. Praise the Lord with harp, sing unto him with the psatery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise, for the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.

Tuesday

Salvation

Dear God, I now confess to you all of the wrong and sinful things I have ever done in my life. I am very sorry for all of my sins and the hurt I have caused. I know that I can't live this life on my own and that I need your help. I now turn away from my old life and ask you to make me new again.

I now believe in you, your holy word and that Jesus Christ is your only begotten son. That he came to our earth in the flesh and died on the cross to take away all of my sins and the sins of this world. I believe that Jesus Christ then rose from the dead on the third day to give all of us eternal life.

Lord Jesus, I give myself to you, for you to be my only Lord and Savior. I give up all other loyalties and I desire no other Lord but you. Please come into me and take control of my life. Mold me to your will and your use. I ask that you drive out all other spirits which conflict with you in any way. I want to belong only to you. I make this prayer to you, in the name of Yashua, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Wednesday

Surrender

Father, in the Name of Jesus, I now place my body, my mind, my spirit and my entire life into your hands.

I now ask that you place me into your perfect will for my life. From this moment on, I choose to stay fully surrendered to you all of the days of my life and to allow you to lead and direct my life in the direction that you want it to go.

Thank you Father. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Holy Spirit.

Thursday

Confession

Father, I now come before you to fully confess all of my sins. I admit that what I have done was wrong and sinful in your sight.

Father, in Jesus name, I now ask that you please forgive me and wash away all of my sins by the blood that your son Jesus has personally shed for me on the cross.

I ask by the power of the Holy spirit that you give me the power not to sin again.

Father, I now believe that I have been fully forgiven and that my sins will no longer be remembered by you. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Friday

Baptism of The Holy Spirit

Dear Father, thank you for forgiving my sins through Christ's death on the cross for me. I now confess and turn from my sins and surrender the control of my life to the Lord Jesus.

By faith, I now invite you to fill me with the Holy Spirit as you commanded me to be filled. You promised to fill my body and mind with your Spirit, if I ask according to your will.

I pray this in the authority of the Name of Jesus Christ. To demonstrate my faith, I now thank you for filling me with you Holy Spirit and for taking control of my entire life. Amen.

Saturday

Pleading The Blood

Father, in the name of your son Jesus Christ, I now plead the blood of Jesus Christ on my family, our possessions and myself.

I plead the blood of Jesus against any demons that may try and come against us. I plead the blood of Jesus against any humans that may try and come against us. I plead the blood of Jesus against any natural accidents that may try and come against us. I plead the blood of Jesus against any diseases, illnesses or sicknesses that could possibly strike us. I plead the blood of Jesus against any circumstances that may try and come against us.

Father, in the name of your son Jesus Christ, I have full faith and belief that the blood of Jesus will now protect us from all of these things.

Thank you Father. Thank you Jesus. Thank you Holy Spirit.

Sunday

Marriage Prayer

Father, I said 'Till death do us part'-I want to mean it. Help me love You more than her, and her more than anything else. Help me bring her into your presence today. Make us one, like You are three-in-one. I want to hear her, cherish her, and serve her-So she would love You more and we can bring You glory. Amen.

Christ's Return

2 Peter 3:14

So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.

Thursday

Christ's Return

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.

And so we will be with the Lord forever.

Friday

Waiting On God

Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.

They shall rise up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint.

Saturday

Psalm 62:5

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.
